Palm Springs & the Coachella Valley

Palm Springs headshots for people who hate being photographed.

Look like the professional you already are.

Professional headshots for executives, physicians, attorneys, real estate agents, entrepreneurs, and performers across Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. Coached, not just photographed.

Before-and-after professional headshot comparison by Rob Sandberg in Palm Springs

Serving Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, La Quinta, Indian Wells, and the greater Coachella Valley.

Studio sessions at 101 S. California Ave. in Beaumont, a straight run up the 10. Or I bring the full studio to your office, practice, or brokerage anywhere in the valley.

The real problem

You're not unphotogenic. You're uncoached.

Almost everyone believes they're just bad in photos. They're not. What they're experiencing is The Freeze: the involuntary tightening every human does the instant a lens points at them. It flattens the eyes, squares the shoulders, and produces that polite non-smile you don't recognize as yourself.

It isn't a personality flaw. It's a reflex. And no camera, no lighting setup, and no amount of retouching fixes a reflex.

A reflex has to be coached out. That takes about twenty minutes.

Rob Sandberg's credentials: Peter Hurley Headshot Crew Mentor and 30-year Fire Captain and Paramedic
Why it works

Come in skeptical. Most people do.

I don't need you to be comfortable in front of a camera. That's my job, not yours.

For over 30 years I was a Fire Captain and Paramedic, walking into the worst moment of a stranger's life and, within seconds, becoming the person they decided to trust. Then I earned Mentor rank in the Peter Hurley Headshot Crew, the highest certification in the world's largest headshot community, built entirely around expression coaching.

One taught me how to settle a nervous stranger in ten seconds. The other taught me how to catch it at 1/200th. You don't have to know what to do with your hands. I'll tell you.

✓Peter Hurley Headshot Crew Mentor, the highest certification in the world's largest headshot community
✓30+ years working with people under pressure as a Fire Captain and Paramedic
✓Thousands of portraits created
✓Private, fully-equipped studio with full on-site capability across the Coachella Valley

Rob was amazing. He's warm and funny and put me at ease, and most got some great shots of this not-very-photogenic girl that I actually loved! Highly recommend!

The plan

How it works

1
Book your session

Choose your date. Your full prep and wardrobe guide arrives immediately, so you know exactly what to bring.

2
Get coached

You won't pose. I'll direct your expression, posture, and eyes one small cue at a time, showing you images as we go.

3
Choose before you leave

We review together on screen. You select your favorites. I retouch.

Behind the scenes

What coached actually looks like

Nobody gets handed a stool and told to smile. I'm a few feet away the whole session, giving you one small adjustment at a time. Every frame lands on the monitor beside us, so you can see it working before you commit to anything.

Mid-session, mid-coaching. This is the part most people don't expect. I'm out from behind the camera, showing you exactly what to do with your chin, your eyes, your shoulders. Every frame goes straight to the monitor next to us. You're never left guessing.

Nobody's watching the clock. A maximum of two sessions a day means there's always time to fix the hair, swap the jacket, wait out a case of nerves, and go again. Being rushed is what produces the stiff photo in the first place.

And the whole kit travels. Most sessions happen at the studio in Beaumont, but when it's easier for you, I bring the lights, the backdrops, and the monitor to your office, practice, or brokerage anywhere in the Coachella Valley.

My photographer (Rob) was not only professional but truly exceptional at coaching me through each pose to capture the best angles and most authentic expressions. He edited on the spot, making sure each shot looked amazing in real time, and allowed plenty of time for outfit changes, lighting tweaks, and background adjustments. Nothing ever felt rushed.

The no-dread guarantee

My promise to you

1You'll never be left guessing. Not what to wear, not where to look, not what to do with your hands.
2You'll see your images before you leave. No waiting two weeks to find out if it worked.
3You choose. I'll give you my professional opinion; you have the final say.
4Nothing gets published anywhere without your approval.
5You'll leave knowing how to do it again, for every camera you face for the rest of your career.

Every day your old headshot stays up, someone in this valley is forming the wrong first impression of you. A referral partner, a client, a hiring committee. And nobody will ever tell you that's what happened.

We engaged him for company-wide headshots, requiring an on-site, half-day shoot. From our initial consultation through to the final delivery, the entire process was flawlessly executed. What truly impressed us was his proactive approach to coordinating with an out-of-state photographer, ensuring a consistent and unified look across all our headshots.

He did our team's headshots and they turned out great. He kept working on our edits until we were 100% satisfied, which was no easy feat for people like us who are very particular. He is the ultimate professional and great to work with.

Booking the appointment was very convenient. The calendar is posted on his website, you can get on and pick your date and time. 1-2-3 Done! Rob was very specific with instruction and tips prior to our appointment, which was very helpful for me because I had not had a professional headshot done before.
